This project created an educational and resilient landscape that highlights Low Impact Development stormwater management strategies. There are several tiered stormwater bioretention basins along North Torrey Pines Road that are designed to detain and slow runoff from adjacent sites.  These structures optimize infiltration opportunities and improve the water quality of runoff to the ocean. The project also created enhanced pedestrian and bicycle paths through the southern campus entry.  New stormwater treatment basins will provide opportunities for interpretative panels highlighting sustainable principles that are currently employed on the campus. The project removed irrigated turf and created an attractive drought tolerant and low maintenance landscape.  This landscape will reduce water use, provide intuitive circulation, enhanced water quality and contribute to the campus urban forest.  DSS products Comet Granite and Dune Rubble were utilized in a variety of sizes and blended to create this natural, functional, and eye catching project.
