River Street Marketplace, a historic retail and dining destination in the Los Rios District of San Juan Capistrano, California, called for landscape stone that would fit its ranch inspired, old soul character while also solving a practical site need. Decorative Stone Solutions supplied Summer Crunch boulders for the project, working with Parkwest Landscape as the installing contractor and SWA Group as the landscape architect. The boulders were placed to serve double duty, guiding vehicle traffic and preventing cars from cutting corners or driving through pedestrian areas, while their warm, natural coloring and rugged texture added decorative character that suits the property's historic setting. It is a good example of how natural stone can replace standard bollards or curbing on a site where the design calls for something that feels like it belongs on the land.
